I will consider Five Guys an actual restaurant instead of food food because the food is made completely fresh. Beef patties are cooked when ordered. Fries come from cut potatoes. Food takes a while to cook.
Their menu ranges from various types of burgers, hot dogs, simple sandwiches, and fries. Five Guys offers a “regular” burger (consisting of 2 patties) or a “little” version (consisting of 1 patty). Today I ordered a regular cheeseburger with lettuce, mayo, ketchup, and mustard. Five guys allows you to customize your burger with as many different toppings as you like! A short list of options includes: grilled onions, mushrooms, pickles, A1 sauce, and more! My burger was delicious, filled with high quality ingredients surrounded by a soft sesame seed bun. An interesting note, the burgers are wrapped in foil for you.
The fries can come standard or Cajun style. Today I opted for the standard fries, just to make a baseline judgement. These fries come hot! Each order of fries is cooked to order as well. Next time, I will opt for the Cajun fries to give them a taste. I find the fries a little thick, but not to the point of potato wedges. I can compare the size of one Five Guys fry to 2 Carl’s Jr fries. The taste of the fries were good, but they tasted more like restaurant fries and not fast food fries. FYI: they serve coke products including Mellow Yellow!
Overall, the food tasted great, and I definitely noticed the quality ingredients and freshness. The only downside is that you are paying $5+ for a “regular” burger. The burger combines with fries and drink will add up. I found the regular sized fries was overly sufficient, even for two people. The large just seems too much. Due to its location, Five Guys Burgers and Fries makes for a good meal before a Kings Game.
