Located at the famous Ghirardelli Square in San Francisco near Pier 39, McCormick & Kuleto’s serves up a variety of delicious seafood entrees along with some San Franciscan classics in a classy venue. We made a quick reservation on OpenTable right before getting to the restaurant. When we arrived, we were still a few minutes early, so we were directed to wait. While waiting, several other parties were told that there was a 20-40 minute wait (Thanks OpenTable!). Once the reservation time came, a host directed us to our booth with sweeping views of the bay across the many windows. Our server then introduced himself, provided us with menus, and took our drink order.
Today, we decided to order the New England clam chowder in a bread bowl, Ahi Tuna Melt with fruit, and the jumbo shrimp scampi pasta. We were presented quickly with a fresh sourdough roll with whipped butter and the clam chowder bread bowl. All of the bread was fresh and soft tasting delicious with each bite. The clam chowder was filled with clams and had a nice semi-thick consistency. The lid of the bread bowl was easy to tear to use to dip into the hot chowder. Within a few more minutes, our entrees arrived. The Ahi Tuna Melt came on freshly toasted bread and was loaded with tuna. The melted cheese and onions accentuated the tuna well and each bite was fulfilling. The tuna was seasoned well and tasted delicious. The accompanying fruit was fresh and sweet. The jumbo shrimp scampi pasta really came with gigantic shrimp. The shrimp tasted fresh and crunchy and tasted delicious with the citrus-infused pasta. Each bite of the pasta tasted refreshing and delicious.
Overall, McCormick & Kuleto’s served up delicious tasting food in a prompt fashion. Prices are a bit high and wait times can be long, but you get what you pay for. The view alone was worth dining in the restaurant. If you are a fan of seafood or just want to enjoy lunch with a great view, then you must check out McCormick and Kuleto’s in San Francisco.
