Oscar’s has finally reopened at their original location across from C.K. McClatchy High School. The new location does provide for more room inside the restaurant, but a bit less space for parking. Most people end up having to park along the street next to Oscar’s.
Today, we ordered the California burrito, cheese fries, carne asada fries, and chicken torta. Compared to the California burrito I ordered from the West Sacramento location, this one was a ton more greasy. I was really disappointed when I started to feel the grease run down my throat and down my arm. By the time I got to the end of the burrito, I found another pocket of grease inside the wrapper. With that said, the burrito was still delicious with its French fry and steak center. The cheese fries were ok, but the chips also tasted overly greasy. The carne asada fries are worth it because the dish is piled high with meat, cheese, guac, and sour cream all over a bed of fries. Unfortunately, these fries were also quite greasy. The rest of the toppings were delicious. The torta was pretty soggy on the bottom, and the flavor was quite bland. I would advise against the cheese chips or torta.
Overall, I’m happy that Oscar’s has finally reopened, but I’m also disappointed at the quality of the food on this visit. I know I came at a very busy time within a week of reopening, but that shouldn’t mean that I needed a heart attack. If you have never tried Oscar’s before, I would still give it a chance. Just make sure you allow them to cool down a bit or visit when they are not busy. You can even go visit them in West Sacramento.
