Peg’s Glorified Ham and Eggs – Part 2 – Sparks, NV

1495 E Prater Way
Sparks, NV 89434

Rating: ★★★★½

As I did on the last visit, I found that you must order a glass of their freshly squeezed orange juice to start the day. This time, we visited on of Peg’s other locations in Sparks. Soon, we hope to visit a new Peg’s in Roseville. This location is a good ways away from the freeway, but pretty close to the Legends at Sparks Outlet.

Today, I ordered the Ground Chuck and Eggs and tried the Island Pork Chops again. I also snapped a picture of the waffles which had a pretty cool flower design. The ground chuck was flavored properly and not overly salty. The eggs were fresh and amazing as always. It was nice to have the meal accompanied by a slice of cantaloupe. The Island Pork Chops were just as good as last time. There was a lot of flavor that was not overpowering. The eat was fresh and the macaroni salad was good too.

Overall, if you want to try a local tasty breakfast joint, Peg’s would be a great place to go. They serve up a variety of egg dishes along with some Hawaiian favorites. If you are in Sac, I just read that the Roseville location just opened up on July 20, 2013. I am hoping that location will fall into tradition with their Reno locations, but we shall find out soon…

Burgers and Brew

1409 R St
Sacramento, CA 95811

Rating: ★★★★☆

Known as one of Sacramento’s best burger restaurants, Burgers and Brew not only features fresh delicious burgers, but also creative concocted fries. We went to their Sacramento location off of R street, which is filled with a lot of busy restaurants and entertainment.

Today, we ordered the cheeseburger and spicy guac burger. The cheeseburger was delicious, fresh, and cooked the way I liked it. My order came with curly garlic fries, which tasted sub-par, but had a really off taste. The Spicy guac burger was equally fresh and delicious. The guac burger came with normal garlic fries, which were amazing. We did not try their other fry varieties today, but maybe next time during happy hour.

Overall, the food tasted delicious and the prices were moderate. We will definitely come back in the future. If you haven’t tried out Burgers and Brew, go now.

Ghirardelli Chocolate Outlet and Ice Cream Shop – Lathrop

11980 S. Harlan Road
Lathrop, CA 95330

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Located south of Stockton. The GhirardelliĀ Chocolate Outlet and Ice Cream Shop really sits on its own near industrial buildings and farmland. Upon entering the building, you will see a good amount of chocolate around ready for purchase. In the middle, you will see the ordering area for ice cream as well as the parlor itself. There a good selection of sundaes and ice cream flavors. The ice cream itself is Dryer’s, but any chocolate or other syrups are from Ghirardelli. Today, I had one of their sundaes, but I do not remember the name of it. The whipped cream was very fluffy, and the chocolate syrup was delicious. There was a brownie on the bottom that was quite chocolatelyĀ as well. The ice cream was tasty, but it wasn’t anything special. Overall, the sundae tasted good, but the portion size was quite small for the price paid. If I had a choice to come here again, I wouldn’t unless I needed to buy chocolate from them.

PB Sushi – San Diego

1203 Garnet Ave
(between Fanuel St & Everts St)
San Diego, CA 92109

Rating: ★★★☆☆

In search for an affordable meal in San Diego, we stumbled upon PB Sushi in busy Pacific Beach. Parking is horrible unless you pay, and cops are all over the place making sure everyone stops to let people cross on crosswalks.

In terms of selection, PB Sushi does offer a variety of rolls with pictures of each roll on the menu. Pricing was not high, but was not low either. Today, we ordered the Snow Crab Roll, Fire Fire Roll, Chicken Teri Roll, Pokie Roll, and the Shrimp Tempura Roll. The Snow Crab Roll was quite different from the standard California Roll as there was also green onion in the roll. The taste was OK, but I didn’t really taste the snow crab that well. The Fire Fire Roll was OK, but it took quite a while to get to the table. The Chicken Teri Roll was pretty good and was filled with chunks of chicken. I did not try the Pokie roll because it was not to my liking. The Shrimp Tempura roll was really good and had nice crunchy things all over it.

Overall, the rolls are crafted well and have a great presentation. Taste is not consistent across all of the ordered rolls. For the price, I would have expected more. If you want sushi in San Diego, you might end up here, but parking is going to suck.

Gold ‘N Silver Inn – Reno, NV

790 W 4th St
Reno, NV 89503

Rating: ★★★★☆

In search of a hearty breakfast in Reno, we stumbled across Gold ‘N Silver Inn. Serving up delicious food 24/7 for over 50 years, Guy Fieri had stepped food into the restaurant on a previous episode of Diners, Drive Ins, and Dives.

Today, we ordered the Country Style Biscuits and Gravy, Lemonade Pork Chops, and Garlic Fries. The Biscuits and Gravy was OK. The sausage provided some needed saltiness, and the hash browns were fresh and crispy. The lemonade pork chops had a delicious sauce and was cooked to perfection. The gravy on the mashed potatoes was very strong. The chicken noodle soup accompanied the meal, but did not have much flavor. The garlic fries were crispy and delicious. I really liked how they provided the entire bottle of ranch. Although I did not order it, I had to take a picture of the monstrous 1 pound burger that looked quite tasty.

Overall, Gold ‘N Silver Inn serves up some pretty good food. If I was in town and wanted something cheap late at night, I would head here.
