Ju Hachi

1730 S St

Sacramento, CA 95811

Rating: ★★★★☆

Located on a quiet corner in midtown, Ju Hachi serves up Japanese cuisine in a friendly neighborhood manner. Without time to eat, I ordered take-out.

Today, I ordered a lunch special that included miso soup, salad, rice, BBQ Salmon, and teriyaki chicken. I also ordered the California Roll and Tempura Roll. The highlight of the meal was the BBQ salmon! The sauce was delicious on the salmon which was cooked perfectly. The teriyaki chicken was tender, but had a very strong grilled taste. The house teriyaki sauce went well with the chicken. The miso soup was delicious and went well with the salad. The California roll was really good, although I wish that the cucumber was not sliced so thin. The tempura roll was tasty, but I wished the shrimp shell was peeled back more.

Overall, the food at Ju Hachi was tasty. If you get a chance to come by, try out their BBQ Salmon. Their prices are fair, and the menu selection is formidable. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Again, you must order the BBQ Salmon!

Szechuan House

3291 Truxel Rd
Ste 6
Sacramento, CA 95833

Rating: ★★★☆☆

Szechuan House is located in a small shopping plaza near Save Mart in Natomas. Szechuan House offers up lunch specials daily from 11:00AM to 3:00PM. Plenty of tables were available at the time, and the waitress allowed me to choose any table.

Today, I ordered the sweet and sour pork lunch combo with pork fried rice. The sweet and sour pork tasted pretty good. The fried rice also tasted pretty good. The cream cheese wonton was a bit soggy from being on top of the food. The meal did come with hot and sour soup, which tasted OK.

Overall, the food tasted pretty good, but definitely did not taste as good as the Chinese restaurants in South Sacramento. If you are looking for a good deal on a lunch plate, then Szechuan House may fulfill that need. If you are hoping for the best Chinese food you have ever ate, then you are in the wrong place.

Jack’s Urban Eats

1230 20th Street
Sacramento, CA 95811

Rating: ★★★★½

Located in Midtown, Jack’s Urban Eats serves up some upscale sandwiches and salads. Jack’s is unique because they serve up tri-tip and turkey fresh from the grill. The restaurant has a laid-back vibe with upbeat decor.
Today, I ordered Jack’s Classic tri-tip sandwich, Spicy Buffalo Sandwich, and garlic fries. Jack’s tri-tip sandwich was delicious! The bun was warm and fresh and the tri-tip was tender and flavorful. The honey mustard and mayo went well with the whole sandwich. The Spicy Buffalo Sandwich tasted OK. Jack’s own buffalo sauce was tasty, but the flavor overpowered the entire sandwich. The garlic fries were really good and fresh. There was ample amounts of garlic on the fries which went well with ketchup or ranch.
Overall, Jack’s Urban Eats serves up some delicious sandwiches and garlic fries. Their tri-tip is definitely worth trying out either in the form of a sandwich or with a salad. There are quite a few locations around the Sacramento area, so if you are looking for a delicious lunch, go stop by Jack’s.

Pho Kinh Do – Las Vegas

4300 Spring Mountain Road #101

Las Vegas, NV 89102

Rating: ★★★★½

If you are craving for Pho in Las Vegas, you will most likely be dragged out to Chinatown off of Spring Mountain Road. The road is reminiscent of Stockton Boulevard in Sacramento because you will find at least one Pho restaurant at every shopping center.

After seeking for help on Yelp and Google, we ended up at Pho Kinh Do. We ordered egg rolls, rare beef stake Pho, chicken Pho, and a Thai Tea. The egg rolls do look quite a bit different from other egg rolls ordered before, but they did taste good. The beef Pho had some really tender beef. We did not want onions in our soup, so the bowl will look a bit empty. Pho Kinh Do only offers one size bowl, but the portion size is fulfilling. The broth is flavorful and clear, but does not stack up to Pho Nam from Milpitas. The chicken Pho was good and the portion size was just right. The chicken was tender and was all white meat. The Thai tea was a bit on the sweet side, but still tasted good.

Overall, Pho Kinh Do offers delicious Pho along with good service. There is a decent array of food options available. I suggest that you make it to Pho Kinh Do if you get the Pho craving after a long night at the strip.

Johnny Rockets – Flamingo – Las Vegas

3555 South Las Vegas Boulevard

Las Vegas, NV 89109

Rating: ★★★½☆

If you are at the Flamingo, you might end up looking for food late at night. Johnny Rockets may end up being that late night food option.

Today, I ordered french toast with sausage and a chocolate milkshake. The french toast tasted OK, but the syrup was quite thick and stickier than normal. The sausages were juicy. The milkshake tasted delicious as always.

Overall, Johnny Rockets provides a small selection of burgers and breakfast items at this location, but the food only tastes OK. If you can’t make it out to other late night eateries, you can settle with Johnny Rockets.
