When you go near the food court at Roseville Galleria, you end up smelling the aroma of fresh garlic fries from Gordon Biersch. Gordon Biersch offers a small variety of sliders, burgers, and salads, as well as their famous garlic fries.

Today, I ordered the GB Cheeseburger, garlic fries, and a homemade root beer. The cheeseburger was OK, but it did not have much seasoning. The bun and meat definitely taste fresh, but lack flavor. The meal really shines with the garlic fries, loaded with real minced garlic. The fries were piping hot and filled with flavor. The root beer tasted a bit watery compared to BJ’s root beer.

Overall, the food tasted OK, with the fries tasting amazing. I did not feel like the burger was worth $7.50 for the size or taste. If I had a choice, I would just order the garlic fries next time without any accompanying burger. If you are near a Gordon Biersch, make sure you try out their $2.50 garlic fries!

BJ’s Restaurant – Part 4

Since I was in the Arden area, it did not make much sense to drive all they way to Natomas to eat at BJ’s. I should have learned my lesson last time and just drove to Natomas. Service was mediocre today, but not as bad as last time. The server did come by for refills, but there was a good waiting period.

Today, we ordered the hot wings, Mac N’ Cheese, the dinner for two Pizza deal (2 soups or salads, medium pizza, and a pizookie) which included two clam chowders, half chicken bacon ranch half spicy meatball, and a white chocolate pizookie. The food tasted great with my BJ’s crafted Root Beer. The hot wings were of good size, and the buffalo sauce was HOT! The Mac N’ Cheese looked and tasted like a heart attack, a bit on the cheesy side. The clam chowders were delicious; however, I do not suggest having one person eat both bowls. The pizza was OK today. The spicy meatball seemed to have larger meatballs at the Natomas location, but was way spicier than before too. The chicken bacon ranch pizza lacked flavor, but the pizza crust was delicious. The white chocolate pizookie was delicious! I just wished BJ’s in Arden would have gave me as much ice cream as Natomas did on my previous review.

Overall, the BJ’s in Arden is good, but not as good as Natomas. Arden has been consistently mediocre. If you are in Arden and are craving a pizookie, then you really can’t go wrong with BJ’s. If you’re looking for a good deal on a meal for two, you can’t really beat BJ’s dinner for two option for $19.99 (limited time only).

Manaao Thai Cuisine

715 Harbor Point Pl
West Sacramento, CA 95605

Rating: ★★★★☆

Drawn in from a Yelp deal consisting of $35 for $25, Manaao Thai Cuisine seemed like a convenient dinner option if shopping in West Sacramento. Located next to an array of fast food and a Starbucks, Manaao serves up some tasty Thai cuisine.

Today, we ordered the papaya salad, chicken larb, Thai fried rice, angel wings, and pad Thai. I actually tried the papaya salad this time because it actually came with a few pieces of shrimp! The shrimp were very tasty and had a nice crunch. The papaya salad tasted fresh. The chicken larb was OK, but was a bit fatty and the taste was a bit off. The Thai fried rice almost tastes as good as Siam‘s, but falls short by a little bit. The angel wings were really good and were fried well. The pad Thai was very good because it came with both chicken and shrimp. The pad Thai was not overly saucy, but still had great flavor.

Overall, Manaao does a great job of serving up Thai food. Some dishes like the pad Thai and Thai fried rice definitely were winners. If the Yelp deal still exists, then Manaao may be a good choice for Thai if you are in the West Sacramento area. Service and portion size were good. Plus, if you are still thirsty after eating, you can grab a Starbucks next door.

Pita Kitchen

2989 Arden Way

Sacramento, CA 95825

Rating: ★★★★☆

Pita Kitchen was my first attempt at Mediterranean food. Located on a large strip mall on Arden Way, Pita Kitchen not only operates as a restaurant, but also as a specialty foods store. In terms of the food, you will find an interesting menu consisting of appetizers, sandwiches, and entrees.

Today, I ordered the Lamb Kabob entree and I tried the Chicken Pita Sandwich. The entree came with a serving of salad tossed with a spicy dressing, a heaping of yellow rice, and a lining of chunks of lamb. The salad was fresh, but the salad dressing did not get a long with my taste buds. The rice was very long grain, but tasted good. The lamb was cooked well, and tasted really good. The entree did come with a white dipping sauce, but I was not a big fan of that either. The Chicken Pita Sandwich looked very healthy, and tasted fairly good. The pita really keeps all the ingredients together.

Overall, Pita Kitchen does very well in terms of taste, service, and portion size. Although this was my first attempt at Mediterranean food, I found the experience welcoming. Given the opportunity, I would like to try this type of food again in the future. If you are craving some kabob, then Pita Kitchen might be your answer.

Mizu – Part 2

3636 North Freeway Boulevard

Sacramento, CA 95834

Rating: ★★★★☆

Mizu seems to be the Chinese/Japanese buffet of choice when you really don’t know what you want to eat. Compared to the previous visit to Mizu, the sushi seemed to taste even better than before with great selections. The Chinese food selection seemed a bit more sparse this time, but we did arrive a couple hours before closing time.

Out of all the sushi I tried this time, I would recommend the plain one with the shrimp on top, the baked salmon on top of rice, the California roll, and the spider roll. The Chinese food was OK, but there were a few selections from last time that was better. The fried rice, teriyaki chicken, pot stickers, and honey shrimp were pretty good. I was not a fan of the har gow dim sum though. The ice cream was delicious. Although, I did ask for cookies and cream, but received chocolate chip cookie dough.

Overall, Mizu provides a fairly wide selection of Chinese food and sushi. The price is acceptable, especially with the 10% off coupon in the Natomas Neighborhood Shopper. The quality of food seems to be consistent over every visit, and sushi selection plentiful. If you’re hungry for some Asian food, go to Mizu.
