Sugar Factory – Las Vegas

Inside Miracle Mile Shops @ Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino

Rating: ★★★★★

Wow. A fancy milkshake for $8. The Make A Wish Milkshake was definitely worth every penny. Topped with whipped cream and a birthday candle, every sip of the shake was like heaven, infused with cake and ice cream. The shop also serves ice cream, gelato, blinged-out lollipops, and candy! This is a must see shop for anyone coming to Vegas. Other locations for Sugar Factory including Paris, Mirage, and MGM.

Earl of Sandwich – Las Vegas

Inside Miracle Mile Shops @ Planet Hollywood Hotel Casino

Rating: ★★★★☆

You come here for the best hot sandwiches. We ordered the Tuna Melt and the French Dip today. Sandwiches are made fresh to order and wrapped in foil. This location is conveniently open 24 hours.

The tuna melt was amazing! This was the best tuna melt I have ever had! The bred was warm and fresh. The tuna filling was delicious. The french dip was OK. Again, the bread was warm and fresh. The meat was very tender and melts in your mouth. However, there was not much of any flavor in the dip or the meat.

Other than the lack of flavor for the french dip, Earl of Sandwich really hit the mark. The sandwiches are $5.99 each, which is quite acceptable for a Vegas strip sandwich shop. Earl of Sandwich definitely requires a revisit.

Planet Hollywood – Las Vegas

@ Forum Shops Inside Caesar’s Palace

Rating: ★★★☆☆

With free appetizer coupon in hand, we head to the Planet Hollywood restaurant inside Caesar’s Palace’s Forum Shops. We got the coupon from people handing out free stuff after check in. Fine print shows free appetizer is only good for the spinach dip or captain chicken crunch with $15 minimum purchase.

Being a Planet Hollywood restaurant, there are a lot of movie and music memorabilia around the restaurant. With that said, that should not be a reason to come eat here. At first, the server was slow to even come to the table.Ā  Eventually, the hostess noticed that we were not helped yet so she grabbed us waters. After ordering with the server, another lade came by offering to take a free souvenir photo, which we did participate.

The first sings of food included the spinach dip, which was presented differently from other spinach dip orders I had in the past. This version involves a hollowed out round bread filled with dip. The edges of the bread are cut around the entire circumference of itself. The dip was delicious! There is a varying level of flavors included with its tomato and onion topping with hidden sliced mushrooms inside.

Soon, the main course came as the Chicken Macaroni & Cheese. The food server asked if we wanted freshly ground pepper and cheese, and I said yes. Our first thought about the dish reminded us about Velveeta cheese and soon through more thorough analysis, the cheese definitely has to be Velveeta. Due to the vast amount of cheese in the dish, there really wasn’t much flavor. There was just enough chicken for the entire dish, cut into strips matching the size of the pasta. This dish was just to cheesy and lacked more depth of flavor.

Overall, the spinach dip appetizer definitely was the highlight of the meal. If we had to come back, we would probably just order appetizers. With high prices and poor service, this location leaves little to be desired. Eventually the photo lady did come back with our free picture, which included a $10 off $20 meal purchase for next time. At the same time, the photo lady brought over two different pictures of us and was selling them to us for $15 for one, or $20 for both. Again, you are better off eating elsewhere, preferably Hard Rock Cafe if you like the music theme.

Yummy Juice Cafe

3005 B Freeport Blvd
Sacramento, CA 95818

Rating: ★★½☆☆

If it’s late at night and you are craving Chinese food, then you might end up at Yummy Juice Cafe. With hours reaching 2AM or 3AM on weekends, Yummy Juice becomes the final option when it comes to a variety of Chinese food. Focused more on Hong Kong cafe style dishes, walls are lined with Chinese menu item listings as a supplement to the main food and drink menus.

Today I ordered the Singapore rice noodles and a teriyaki chicken over rice. The noodles were delicious and were ordered with no vegetables as usual. There was just the right amount of curry while still having a generous amount of meat. With that said, the good commends pretty much end here. The teriyaki chicken had a really heavy sauce that was too strong. The chicken had bones in it still (low quality meat). The proportion of meat to rice was less than desirable.

To make matters even worse, a 15-20 minute window for takeout readiness became more of a 30 minute wait. For some reason, the restaurant was quite busy, almost filling up all the tables for a Wednesday night. If I knew that the food was going to take 30 minutes, I would have just got a burger instead. I hope they can either improve their estimates or cook faster. I will need to return again to order my favorite dish from here, the sweet corn with spam over rice. Hopefully next time they improve on their service.

Denny’s

4025 LAKE RD
W SACRAMENTO, CA 95691

Rating: ★★★★½

When you think about going out to eat breakfast, you need to think about Denny’s. As a happy guest over the years, I can always depend on getting a delicious meal from Denny’s. In the past, I have run into locations that provide a level of service that is unacceptable, but I now have found a location that always provides a good experience. If you had to go to Denny’s I would definitely go to the one in West Sacramento.
The menu at Denny’s changes every so often, and this time I found that they changed one of their delicious fusion drinks to now include strawberry lemonade. They actually have real strawberry pieces at the bottom, which I really appreciate. I dislike variants of strawberry lemonade that only use strawberry syrup like at Applebee’s. In terms of food, I designed my own grand slam to include eggs, sausage, pancakes, and hash browns. Every part of the meal was delicious. Usually, I am able to finish the entire meal including the drink, and this time was no exception.
If I had a choice between Denny’s and IHOP, I would definitely choose Denny’s. With good service and great food, Denny’s fits the bill when it comes to breakfast. With most locations open 24 hours, people can eat breakfast at any time of the day. If you go, I suggest you order a fruity drink along with some breakfast. While you are there, check out their 2, 4, 6, 8 menu for other great deals.
