Due to Sarang Bang only being open in the late afternoon and nights, I often miss the opportunity to try out this restaurant. Located in a sketchy strip mall, Sarang Bang really seems like a hole in the wall restaurant. As you enter, the restaurant appears to be fairly small, with around 7-9 tables around. Service was OK, but not spectacular.
Today we ordered the Beef Bul Go Ki, Kimchi Fried Rice, and Spicy Chicken. First off, this Beef Bul Go Ki was amazing! It was juicy, tender, and seasoned appropriately. The dish comes out on a sizzling hot plate (I recorded a 1 minute mouth-watering video of the steam coming out if anyone wants to see it). This definitely tastes better than YD’s version. Because of the delicious flavor, I would definitely order this again, or one of Sarang Bang’s other grilled dishes. The Kimchi Fried Rice was good and had a lot of flavor, and is especially good for Kim Chi lovers. Unfortunately, the Spicy Chicken really was not worth it. The dish was not spicy, and the breast portions were dry. Instead of the Spicy Chicken, next time an order of the Rotisserie chicken for $2 less would be more worth it.
Overall, Sarang Bang is definitely worth visiting. Bul Go Ki is a must! Make sure you check when they open because they normally open after 5PM on most days.
